FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS...

HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
If you would like to discuss a legal matter, please feel free to call, e-mail or fill out the form on the Contact Page of this site to schedule an office meeting with John Wm. Ringer.

IS THERE A CHARGE FOR THE INITIAL CONSULTATION?
Generally, there is a standard charge for an initial 30 minute consultation, which can be discussed with you before you schedule the appointment. Exceptions are, generally, personal injury cases and other litigation matters where there is no initial fee.

WILL MY INFORMATION BE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?
Lawyers are bound by the Missouri Rules of Professional Conduct, and by basic principles of ethics and integrity, to honor client confidences and to hold them sacred. With very few, carefully prescribed exceptions – such as when a lawyer reveals confidential information in order to prevent a future crime – a law office is barred from ever revealing a client’s confidential information. Often, in order to understand a client’s situation and give him or her appropriate legal advice, the lawyer must obtain confidential and personal information from the client. Rest assured that your private information stays private – not only during the course of the legal representation, but forever thereafter.

HOW WILL I BE BILLED FOR SERVICES?
Mr. Ringer’s goal is always to provide quality and experienced legal services at a cost which is affordable, fair and also generally comparable to the legal market in Southeast Missouri. Matters handled on a purely contingent fee basis (no recovery no fee) are billed only at the conclusion of the representation, with the exception of expenses that may be advanced and are billed periodically. Matters that are not on a contingency basis may, generally, be billed hourly on a monthly basis or on a flat fee basis. Specific fee arrangements will be discussed in advance at the time of the initial conference.
